My name is Cherry. Well, it was Cherry. I changed it years ago. You've never heard of a star named Cherry, have ya? Oh honey, that was back in the days of real Hollywood. The studio system and all that. I was out there singin' and dancin' — acting. It was a real mixed bag of showbiz and I loved every minute of it! But as they say, nothing lasts forever. I aged, as a woman might, and it just wasn't easy fightin' those spots and wrinkles and tryin' to keep a size six figure. Oh, they had a pill for this and for that, and honey, you know I had to take them. Not because I wanted to, but because showbiz was my life and without it, well, who was I? And you know they had a new girl comin' up every month, so eager to take away what I had earned. Oh, sweetheart, I don't want to get into the rest with ya. You don't need to knoow the dirty details. But I'll tell ya this much: it doesn't matter what you take away from me — my youth, my career, my life — I will always be a star.
